Joint tenancy may only be owned in equal shares. For example, if there are two joint tenants, they each own 50%, and if three, they each own 33 1/3%. When three people own a property in joint tenancy, and one person dies, the two remaining owners increase their ownership from 33 1/3% each to 50% each.
